To fix a sagging lever door handle you must find the hole for access to the detent or pin, which is usually a small rectangle or round shape hole or protruding pin that is located on the opposite side of the handle base plate. Once you've located it, you can loosen the set screw with a screwdriver and remove it to allow the lever and return it to its horizontal position.
Once the handle is placed horizontally, you can put back the screws. Close them to ensure that the handle remains firmly connected to the base plate. Consider applying a threadlocking solution to the threads of screws to increase grip and stop them from loosening over time.
There are a myriad of reasons that door handles for levers drop. The most frequent cause is that the fixings aren't tight and the lever bearing to pull up against the door. It could also be because the levers aren't being operated at a straight angle and this is causing the latch mechanism, preventing it from fully springing back into action.
The most common reason for a spring lever not operating properly is that the spring is not being in the right position on the backplate. To determine whether the handle is back to horizontal, simply move it.
It is important to fix any door handles that are damaged as soon as possible. This could lead to excessive wear on the screws, and the handle might be able to fall off the base plate. You should also tighten any loose screws regularly to stop them from becoming looser.
